RADIO CAROLINE FAREWELL 259 LAST DAY OF BROADCASTS

 


James Ross presents his last programmes on Caroline 259, all onboard were looking forward to the change in frequency and increase in power. In addition a fascinating tour and description of the Mia Amigo in true Caroline style which really gives a feel of life on the radio ship Mi Amigo at that time.

 James Ross takes you on a tour of the Mi Amigo before they changed frequency from 259 metres to 319 meters. This Intriguing session contains a description of what was involved in changing frequency also why needed to at the time. The engineer describes the transmitter room the transmitting equipment the aerials, feeders & power output of the station.

James then talks to other staff on board from their cabins including Johnny Jason & Ed Foster also their views on the change of frequency. Then to the generator room & up to the bridge where he tells you more of what happens here also what can be seen. On the foredeck James explains the winch gear, lights, anchor & guidelines. Finally the signing off on 259 metres & saying goodbye until the ships return on 319metres.
