Janet Street Porter sails out to the Caroline ship Mi Amigo & gives an in depth report on how Caroline survived ten years after the Marine Offences Act plus how it all began.
Good footage of the radio ships Caroline & Big L in the 60’s shots of studios comment from main players at the time.
Janet speaks to the crew aboard Caroline on how they coped at sea from their North Sea anchorage.
Ronan O’rahilly gives comment on the advertising & Broadcasting Act and the late Tommy Vance gives his views on Caroline at that time.
This is a fascinating documentary and almost certainly one of the best on Caroline and the pirate’s stations at the time, was shown 10 years on after the Marine Offences Act was passed.
A PIRATE TALE
This film was first shown in 1991 and is the story of Radio Caroline the legendary pirate radio station that lead to an explosion of popular music and the opening up of the airwaves. It shows how charismatic club owner and manager of various artists Ronan O'Rahilly find a ways to publicise new emerging bands. This excellent story is told by the many people involved in the early days of Caroline and gives a real insight to the events that surrounded this fascinating project.

The Tower Of Power on the Shivering Sands 1964 to 1967
The history of the Station that made its home on the Shivering Sands Fort between 1964 to1967 is told by many of the people involved with the Sutch & City projects. The story starts with a publicity stunt staged by Screaming Lord Sutch which turned into a radio station on a disused wartime fort in the Thames estuary. Unfortunately the station was to hit the headlines with a boarding then shooting of its manager, this was bad news for the pirates. The whole Story is revealed with comment from presenters, management & others involved at the time plus edits of news items on events surrounding the stations history.
This movie, was originally filmed on Cine In B/W although digitally remastered, it shows deterioration but still fascinating footage . The soundtrack includes many of the people involved with the project also news stories from some of the events, narration is by Adrian Love.
